Kallitype (palladium toned) on Hahnemuhle Platinum Rag. Image 8 × 10 in., sheet 11 × 14 in.
Turning follows past-peak moments. A sunflower’s petals loosen and curl and its face turns toward the ground.
The prints are palladium-toned kallitypes on Hahnemühle Platinum Rag. Each sheet is brushed by hand with iron and silver salts and exposed in direct contact with a negative, so the image forms in the paper itself. The silver is then toned in palladium, which warms and deepens it and helps it hold. Brush marks, soft edges, and small irregularities stay in the print. It seemed the right process for flowers in decline: slow, handmade, and honest about its own traces.
Each print is signed on the front and comes with an archival mat and backing board. This is part of an edition of 25.
