Commissions of original art

Some images deserve more than a screen or a drugstore print. I make commissioned cyanotypes, kallitypes, and palladium [ziatype] prints by hand, one sheet at a time, using processes that photographers have trusted for more than a century.

Each of these processes has its own character. Cyanotype gives you deep Prussian blues. Kallitype gives you warm browns with a rich tonal range. Palladium gives you soft, cool blacks and a print that can last for generations. I’ll help you choose the one that suits your image.

Every print is coated, exposed, and developed by hand, so no two are exactly alike. The brushstroke at the edge of the coating, the texture of the paper, and the slight variations from sheet to sheet are part of what makes it yours. A commission usually takes several rounds of testing and refinement before I’m satisfied, which is why commissioned pieces are priced a little above existing work of the same size.

If you have an image you’d like to work with, whether it’s a family photograph, a place that matters to you, or something of your own, tell me about it through the form below. I enjoy this collaboration, and I’d love to help you turn your image into something lasting.
