I hand-coat paper with light-sensitive solutions, wait while Houston's humidity negotiates with the paper, expose the sheet to ultraviolet light, and watch the image surface in the developer. That moment when a picture comes out of a blank page is a bit of magic.

No two prints are identical, and I've stopped treating that as a problem to wrangle. I let the imperfect and the impermanent run through everything I make.
